For this position, we are looking for an Associate Manager to lead new product development efforts in our Medical division. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background and at least 5 years of professional experience, with at least half that time focused on new product development. A servant-leader mentality is a must for this role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with some of the top technical professionals in the medical device industry, bringing cutting-edge technologies to market. Specifically, this role is with our Medical R&D; Group, focusing on generating revolutionary technologies that we believe will significantly impact the quality and cost of patient care. What you will do As an Associate Manager, you will lead a team of engineers, technicians and project managers who work with their cross-functional peers to commercialize new medical technologies. You will help guide the team as they identify precise new product functional requirements, conceptualize new designs, specify test requirements, and evaluate the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. The team also designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans. You and your team will collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Specific responsibilities for this management role include: Direct reporting responsibility for 8 or more technical and project management professionals. Responsible for primary hiring, on-time performance appraisals, coaching/counseling, employee development and necessary communications regarding performance issues. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the new product development function within appropriate guidelines, policies and regulations. Drive and develop increased team engagement over time. Develop and export talent to other parts of the organization. Develop status reports and other related communications. Develop and implement strategies to ensure technical competency in appropriate business areas. Operate within budget and coordinates with other R&D; managers to ensure our focus on business priorities. Coordinate development activities across cross-functional teams (Marketing, Engineering, Quality, etc.). Handle complex technical, resource, or business situations as appropriate. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and compliance activities within the new product development team. What you need As an Associate R&D; Manager, you must be a proactive leader with the ability to facilitate teamwork in a positive and collaborative manner. You should combine solid problem-solving skills, with superb conflict, relationship, and influence-management abilities. It is also vital that you have the ability to clearly convey complex ideas and influence clients, team members, management, and external groups at all levels of expertise. Specific qualifications for this role include: Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related technical field 5+ years of professional experience (4 yrs of experience is satisfactory with a Masters degree) Exceptional personal and relationship building skills Demonstrated examples of successfully leading cross-functional collaboration Exceptional written and oral communication skills Proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and other management software tools. Experience with MS Project Online preferred Candidates with a Technical Master s, Engineering Management, or MBA degree are highly preferred Candidates licensed as a Professional Engineer in their discipline are highly preferred Candidates with technical expertise in high-performance textiles, polymer gels, or similar areas are highly preferred Candidates with project management experience are highly preferred Candidates with previous medical device experience are highly preferred Work From Home: NoTravel Percentage: Up to 25%Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
