Surgical First Assistant Location: Kalamazoo, MI Agency: Lancesoft Inc. Pay: $3,256 to $3,314 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/20/2026 About the Position We're seeking an experienced Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or RNFA with strong cardiovascular OR (CVOR) experience. This role supports a high-volume surgical department performing 80–100 cases daily across multiple specialties. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting and capable of assisting in complex cardiac procedures, while also supporting other surgical service lines when needed. Key Responsibilities: Assist surgeons as a First Assistant in cardiovascular and general surgical procedures. Perform endoscopic vein harvesting independently (required skill) . Support cardiac surgeries including CABG and other vascular procedures. Provide assistance in a variety of cases including ortho, vascular, GYN, thoracic, and general surgery when not in CVOR. Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper surgical field management . Assist with exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff for optimal patient outcomes. Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergent surgical needs. Float within the department as needed. Requirements Minimum 2 years of First Assist experience (5 years strongly preferred) CVOR experience required Must be proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting (hard requirement) Strong experience in cardiac surgical procedures Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) Accepted Roles: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) (at adjusted rate) Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel experience Experience in Trauma Level I facilities Ability to assist across multiple surgical specialties Benefits Competitive pay up to $3314 weekly gross Quick offer Bonus opportunities
