Medical Oncology Job Details Estimated Weekly Salary: $7,100 - $8,410 Position Type: Locum tenens physician (Medical Oncology) Location: Outpatient Cancer Center, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Shift Duration: 8-hour days Hours per Week: 40 Call Schedule: Weekday evenings by telephone, weekend rounding with APP support; Call ratio 1 in 5 Patient Population: Adult and geriatric Practice Focus: 60% hematology, 40% oncology; primary lung cancer, secondary general/benign hematology Team: 6 physicians and 10 advanced practice providers (APPs) Average Outpatient Census: 8–16 patients/day Average Inpatient Census (Call/Rounding): 22 patients (2 hospitals), including 4–5 new patients EMR: Epic Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 90 days Medical Oncology Physician Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology (required) Active Michigan medical license (preferred; candidates willing to obtain MI license considered) BLS certification (required) Minimum 1 year of experience in medical oncology or hematology-oncology Physician Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive outpatient care for adult and geriatric oncology patients Manage lung cancer cases and provide secondary coverage for general/benign hematology Participate in tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary care planning Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging for oncology patients Prescribe treatments and therapies, including chemotherapy (administered by nurse oncologists) Perform procedures such as FNA/biopsy Participate in call coverage (telephone and weekend rounding with APP support) Collaborate with a team of physicians and advanced practice providers in a clinical setting Apply now to join our healthcare team and make a difference in Michigan oncology care!
