Job Description:
The Speech Language Pathologist is a key associate at Hope
Network whose primary responsibilities include:
Responsible for providing clinical consultations, evaluations, and
rehabilitation programming for individuals at Hope Network Neuro
Rehabilitation. Provides speech language pathology services as
prescribed by consumer's physician for adults and adolescents with
head injuries, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, general
orthopedic rehabilitation needs, and/or neurological behavioral
issues. -Also includes maintaining accurate data, treatment records
accounting for treatment activities, and program development.
Consult with program staff to assure comprehensive delivery of
recommended services to individuals. Responsible to adhere to
established standards determined by the American Speech and Hearing
Association in all areas of individual intervention and hold valid
Michigan licensure. Also responsible for supervision of assistants
and/or aides and other given responsibilities of the SLP Department
at assigned location.

- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement
of this position.
- Train and supervise Interns and Rehab Aides in carrying out
individual treatment plans. -
- Provide speech language pathology diagnostic and treatment
services using selected standardized and informal assessment
procedures to determine the nature, severity, and prognosis for
rehabilitation of individuals with communication disorders. -SLP
treatment may include individual and group speech and language
therapy services as indicated. -This includes training in
communication, cognitive, dysphagia, and other related service
activities for individual clients and client groups. -Act as a
communication and dysphagia specialist and resource for clinical
teams.
- Ensure individual assessment and participation with goal
identification, treatment planning and implementation of treatment
plan. -Treatment includes individual and group settings.
- Completes timely documentation of daily treatment notes,
progress reports at funding required intervals, initial evaluation,
discharge summaries, pre driving assessment, home assessments, home
programs, and consultation notes as indicated.
- Monitor individuals' progress and maintain accurate records of
treatment through data collection and treatment reports as
assigned.
- Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team for assigned
individuals. -Participates in individual goal development,
coordination of services, discharge planning, and family education
as needed
- Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with
all individuals.
- Provides education and monitoring to direct care staff,
families, and other team members, in the provision of speech and
language activities; trains and supervises staff in the provision
of speech assistant services if employed at location.
- Attends and verbally presents at team meetings, clinical
reviews, staff meetings, and in-services. -Attends department
meetings. -Participates in program development.
- Complete non-billable activity to support treatment plan,
interventions, staff education, family education, and
interdisciplinary team goals. -This can include but is not limited
to evaluation and progress reporting, updating Care Plan Forms, in
servicing caregivers/team members, developing specific compensatory
supports/technology to best suit the patient for functional skills,
collaborate with internal team members as well as external
stakeholders, write letters of medical necessity, Annual Reviews,
collaborate with vendors for DME needs for specific patients as
well as departmental needs, and other tasks as needed to best
support the patient achieving the highest level of
independence.
- Participate in marketing of SLP services by promoting high
quality control and customer service. -Be liaison to the community
for purposes of recruitment, program development, and community
regarding our program. -
- Order individual specific treatment supplies and equipment for
persons served or department. -
- Oversee selection and maintenance of appropriate equipment,
software and clinical diagnostic and treatment materials as
necessary for speech and speech assistant staff to perform
duties.
- Other duties as assigned. -

Addendum for Essential Functions if Applicable for multiple
departments:
1. Develop student affiliations and supervises any speech and
language pathology graduate students. -
2. Participate in clinical research pertinent to BI at design, data
collection, and/or data analysis levels. Actively disseminates
information gained through such undertakings. -
3. Accompany or transport designated clients on group or individual
outings to off-grounds locations as needed. -
4. Complete other duties as assigned.

Educational / Talent Requirements: -
- Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited
program
- Holds ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in
speech/language pathology (CCC-Speech) or equivalent
required
- Current Michigan Licensure
- Demonstrated ability to work with consumers having special
physical, emotional, social, behavioral and vocational needs as a
result of neurological disability/TBI
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, update and document
consumer treatment programs
- Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable according
to HNNR policy
- Ability to articulate and support the mission of HNNR to
various -audiences.

Work Experience Requirements: -
- Prior clinical experience with individuals who have
neurological impairments including TBI, CVA, SCI or other. -
